Annie Lee (1935–2014) was a renowned African American artist celebrated for her humorous and realistic paintings of everyday Black life, notable for her unique style of depicting faceless figures to emphasize emotion through body language. She started her career as an artist in her 40s after working for the railroad, with her most famous work being "Blue Monday". Her art gained wider popularity through television shows like "A Different World" and her own successful line of decorative items based on her paintings.
